Back Office Product Associations - Category Tree

Hi,

 

Thanks in advance for any help.

 

I am trying to amend the associations form in the admin theme. I want to make it so that the first level of categories are not an option for the user to select as an association.

 

I had expected that I could do to the associations template but it seems to draw the category tree from somewhere else. I think it is from here:

/ admin / themes / default / template / helpers / form / form_category.tpl

 

But any amendments I make to this code isn’t showing up on the site.

 

The theme is correct and the cache etc. has been cleared.

 

Can anyone suggest how I could rescrict the first level of categories from being selectable on the back office associations category tree when adding/editing a product.
