5-steps Ajax cart error mystery

Hi,

When deleting the last item for the cart page i get this error :

 

"TECHNICAL ERROR

Details : 

Error Thrown: [object Object]

Text status: error""

 

Some clues :

 

- It only happens in 5-steps mode not in onepage checkout mode

- It is only displayed in Safari and Chrome, not Firefox / Mozilla

- I don't get any obvious js error in Firebug console

- I've unistalled all additonnal modules one by one and it still happens

- I have repaired and optimised the complete database and it still happens

- No cart rules added

- I've already checked tpl access autorisations and reuploded them

 

So, will someone be able to solve this mystery ?

check what you've got in ajax query reponse

i can inspect it but i will need an access to your website (front office only)

I am also encountering this issue with 1.5.6.2.

This was recently upgraded from 1.5.6.0, where it worked perfectly.

I restored my 1.5.6.0 backup with DB to a test server and no issue.

So this is really related to 1.5.6.2.

Any news on this would be appreciated.

I have just finished some testing.

I did a diff of the 1.5.6.0 and 1.5.6.2 versions of the ajax-cart.js.

There are some minor changes, but the ones that raise the error are actually due to some JS error handling in the refresh and delete-voucher functions.

I have simply commented out these additions and everything works as before.

I am not technical enough to understand why it throws the exception, but everything continues to work as I would expect.
