Moni_
I'm using Prestashop 1.5.6.1. I've got my products in and all but I am having trouble configure taxes accurately. Depending on where a person orders a product, anywhere in the world, I want to apply the tax from where he/she is located precisely. Now by default I already have state taxes for USA. I want to ship to different countries too. From what I understand, if I want to ship in Canada, I need to configure the taxes manually for each province. So basically apply that principle for each country but that involves getting the right tax and updating it when it changes. The amount of work that this demands doesn't make sense. So I'm guessing there should be a simpler way and I just don't know of it. How do you do your taxes? Thanks a bunch -Moni Edited January 9, 2014 by Moni_ (see edit history)
benjamin utterback
You can go to Localization>Localization and Add the Canada Localization Pack. That includes all the Federal and Provenical taxes. You would also need to update the tax rules manually if they should change or wait for the localization pack to update. For international countries, you would have to add the tax manually. Avalara is an addon service that will do this for you automatically. http://addons.prestashop.com/en/billing-invoicing-prestashop-modules/5040-avalara-avatax.html
Moni_
Thanks for showing me how to get taxes for Canada and telling that you have to update them manually if they change. Now, for a product prices, when you have to pick a tax rule, I only get to pick one. For example : US-FL Rate(6%). What's problematic with this is that the tax on this product only applies to the people in Florida. Now, how do I manage to apply a tax on a product for people in Canada and USA and not only in Florida? That's my main issue.
benjamin utterback
The product tax rule will only apply to people living in Florida. You don't need to set up a tax for each product. Just make the taxes and enable them, if a product is sent to any country or region with a tax set up correctly enabled, the tax will be added to the product. Moni_
Thank you. I tried setting up no tax for a product. Like this http://oi43.tinypic.com/ossksi.jpg Here I enabled the taxes I need : http://oi40.tinypic.com/2wej6u1.jpg You can only see the USA taxes here but I also enabled the ones for Canada, Australia and UK. For the tax options, I enabled it and based it on the delivery address. Once I test, with a legit address from Canada there is no tax added http://oi40.tinypic.com/2vb3bj5.jpg Do you know what I am missing?
