indus
Hi Messy backend menus usually goes away with a ctrl F5 in the browser. For other errors, turn on error reporting from the config/defines.inc.php file, ps_dev_mode true and display errors on. That should give you some messages.

indus
Hi Iam no smarty expert, but why dont you try replacing the default theme folder after upgrade with a fresh new prestashop 1.5.6.1 folder? Maybe its missing some files from the template as the error says.
