Mocha Coder LLC
I am trying to install PrestaShop on RackSpace Cloud hosting. I installed my SSL, uploaded the PS files, attempted to access the install folder using http://example.com and https://example.com. Both give me 500 Internal Server Errors. Not sure what else I need to check or do.
vekia
in this case it's necessary to check php error log, if you've got possibility to check it - this should be first step in debug process
Mocha Coder LLC
Didn't think to check the error log as 500 usually means it just an issue with connecting to a file. Guess I was right in a way. Here is the log: EDIT: Removed the long quote. Edited December 30, 2013 by Mocha Coder LLC (see edit history)
Mocha Coder LLC
Oh and I uploaded all files 2 different ways. First I uploaded them directly through FTP, second I uploaded the zip file and extracted through my cPanel file manager.
Dh42
Sounds like a permissions issue with your php. What php interpreter are you using and what version of php?
Mocha Coder LLC
PHP Version: 5.4.23 MySQL Version: 5.5.34-cll Not sure what you mean by interpreter, think you must mean suPHP or mod_php but I have suPHP enabled. I have other sites running on my server and have no issues with them using PHP such as IP.Board, XenForo, and was using Magento until I found PrestaShop. Dh42
Are you on cpanel? If so, you can try to install via launchmyprestashop.com and see if you can get it installed that way.

If Fantastico had it then I would purchase a Fantastico license for it.
Dh42
Luanchmyprestashop is developed by the guys over at Presto-changeo they are one of the oldest and biggest module makers for Prestashop. It works very nicely, I have tested it out and used it several times. It basically gets around some of the issues different servers have when installing Prestashop. Mocha Coder LLC
I think I know the problem, I uploaded the files using my root login by accident. Removed the files and will attempt to use LaunchMyPrestaShop. I'll let you know the outcome, thanks for the info.

Mocha Coder LLC
I was right, uploaded using root caused the issues. I have since uploaded under the right account and the installation is working. Thanks everyone for replying and helping out.
