puffdade
So far I have been really happy with Presta spent some hard earned coin on modules manuals etc and been enjoying my online selling experience. I decide to go one step further and build a 2nd site and spread my wings, so I buy a new domain , I install the latest version and invest quite a lot of money in an all singing all dancing new theme, follow all the instructions using the back office and theme installer set about installing my new all singing all dancing theme, FAILURE there was an error uploading your file I go back delete the file upload it again unzip it and try again, FAILURE ok lets reinstall Presta run through the whole lot again and guess what, FAILURE As I purchased the Theme via Presta add ons all is not lost help isn't far away well that's not strictly true either the help section is undermanned or they have some serious levels of issues to wade through I cant seem to get a reply other than a scripted piece of text asking me to do this If you install the template from scratch and want it to look like demo version, please, install the PrestaShop Engine: 1.5.4.1, theme, import dump.sql.Please, use the following link to read our detailed tutorials:http://info.template-help.com/help/how-install-the-prestashop-commerce-solution-software.htmlhttp://info.template-help.com/help/how-install-prestashop-template.htmlhttp://info.template-help.com/help/phpmyadmin-how-to-import-sample-data-dump-file-phpmyadmin.htmlAfter the installation, you are free to upgrade the prestashop to the latest version. That's not too bad I can follow instructions until I follow the first link, the link is asking me to install 1.4.x ? and not 1.5.4.1 as suggested. I cant get my head around why I need to install 1.4.x to get a theme installed that's marked up compatible with the new version of Presta not only that getting involved in dump.sql doesn't sound like its for the layman and more for experienced users. Can someone offer me a simple solution to installing this theme I really wanted to get working on this over the xmas period my CPanel no longer supports the auto installation of 1.5.4.1 and has jumped up to the new version .1.5.6.1 or the older 1.4.11.0
vekia
hello usually themes have got also manual installation instructions. I suppose that this theme also. if i were you I will try to install lastest ps, then just install theme manually (installation & configuration). unpack theme library, copy all theme files to /theme/ directory all modules files to /modules/ then configure each module (remove unwanted module, install theme modules, configure them)
puffdade
Thanks Vekia I have sorted it all now I managed to handle the scary dumping sql even though "shock horror" I had a few presta dbases as I have a few sites and had to find out which one was which. My point and moan was, we are not all programmers or hard core Presta users some of us are just laymen basic pc users that have come to Presta for a shopping cart solution, the wording and sequences to the ordinary folk can be so daunting and confusing at times I wonder how many actually give up before they actually get going. I'm persistent so I carry on through until I achieve my goal many others are not, simple instructions are what's needed have a glossary of terms used that can be referenced and explained and even better still rate each mod and template with an ease of use / installation rating for us newbies it helps us make the choice and take the pressure off your customer service and helpline. You guys work hard in here and its rare a question goes un answered a lot of those questions could be killed at source. Anyway onwards and upwards there is money to be made. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all
