Urbanfarmer
Hello......Free shipping always shows. It seems that it should show or not show based on how the product shipping was set up. No matter what I do, products that are not Free Shipping display as Free Shipping. Any ideas?
doekia
Which version are u running? Check that you have shipping price on zones / ranges In 1.5+ you need to select an address (during checkout) to have shipping cost calculated... 1.5.6+ is experiencing weirdness after upgrade ... use next / next ... finish to have proper cost saved
Urbanfarmer
I'm using 1.5.6. For instance: I select a product that I've set up with weight and dimensions for UPS as the only available carrier. We are connected online with UPS. Yet, when the product is put in the cart it says Free Shipping. In checkout it says no carriers are available and no shipping is added. Does this have anything to do with being in "test" mode, not live? If so, how do I test?
doekia
What is the method the carrier calculates the price on?? You may need my small free module to regain access to the configuration variable PS_SHIPPING_METHOD, dropped in 1.5.6+, but most modules still use this var... http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/297013-module-bo-addons-esaddons-now-opensource/?view=findpost&p=1500220

Urbanfarmer
OK, I see that UPS is working after the name/address is filled in. Hooray! But the customer doesn't see this in the floating cart. He sees Free Shipping! Can't have that......that's a letdown for the customer. I guess the only solution is to remove Free Shipping in tpl. Unless there are other solutions?.....
doekia
Disable quick registration. Normal registration forces an address. Actually you do not have address in the cart until late during checkout... Or replace the translation in the blockcart to display "shipping fee variable"

Go to Localization, Translations and edit the Installed modules translations scroll down and find Module blockcart and change Free shipping! to something like $0.00 You should also do this for Front office translations - shopping-cart. Urbanfarmer
Wow! Thanks for turning me on to a new area I was not aware of. I made the change. I'm getting there slowly.
claybourg
I noticed the same thing. The cart assumes free shipping until the customer is registered, then it calculates. This is a bug in my opinion, it should not display anything or something like "login required"
