Manually Add Admin user

Recommended Posts

I'm new to Prestashop, and am installing on my own Server (IIS 7 under Windows 7).
I couldn't not get past step 3 in the install, step 3 seems to complete but does not go to step 4.
(I've checked the documentation, wiki, install stuff, forum, can't seem to get past)

Since I renamed the install and admin folders I can even bring up the sample store and if I go to the admin page it's asking me for a login/password

But since I could not complete the installation (I'm assuming the account setup is done in step 4) I'm not a user in the database yet.

I would like to manually add a user to complete my install,
is there a way to do that ?

thanks, Scott

I'm guessing there is more to it than adding a record to the employee table ?

I've done that but it's complaining that I don't exist or password is invalid...

is the password in the database field encrypted ? (I have to enter it plaintext to add the record)
where do I specify that I am the admin ?
what about the profile id and needing to setup a profile ?

thanks, Scott

I posted this on a similar thread again, maybe it will help:
=====================================

This is wierd! I had the same problem, I couldn’t get past step 3 of installation. The database and tables were created, but I couldn’t create a user in step 4.

I changed the php.ini as suggested earlier and that didn’t work either

However, I did find a solution to my problem! For some reason in my Firefox 3.5.3 and in Internet Explorer 8 I could not get past step 3, but in Opera 10 I had success without changing anything internally.

Why would that be?

This fix doesn't work. I went into phpmyadmin and changed the password and "time since last gen", and had it sent to me. It still won't take the password I created and I never receive the emails.

It doesn't even help to use the password in phpmyadmin.

Please help or I'll have to uninstall and reinstall again, and there is no export products module, so I have to rebuild the whole thing every time.

Please help... Thanks.

If using Opera didn't work the I don't know. That worked for me.

However, I did try to manually enter an employee prior to using Opera. I got it to take the employee, but it would never send me an email.

I entered a value for all the fields except password. Also remember to set the active field to 1.

Once you get the employee recors in, you can go to the forgot password link on the login page. It says it sent the password to the email I entered, but I never actually got the email.

You can try that and see if you have better luck than I did.

Another thin, how do you have products if you couldn't get into the back office? Anyway, I think you can export the data from within phpmyadmin rather than in prestashop. Also, if I remember correctly, when you set it up you can use an exiting database or create a new one. If that is correct, you can try to reinstall the files, but use the existing database. I'm not sure if that will work, but you can look into it.

I have products because I have had it up and running last week, entered about 100 products. Then opened it one morning and the WYSIWYG editor in the interface on the products page disappeared.

I found in the forums instructions to reinstall software over existing build. I did that and lost contact with the backend so I had to uninstall/reinstall. Now I can't see my products, even with installing my backups.

And now I can't get in again. Very frustrating. Thank you for your assistance.

I don't know how to export products using phpmyadmin. And there is way in the install to use an existing db that I know of.

Q: Why do you add a new user in phpmyadmin and not a password? The system won't let you login without a password, and I never get the emails either, no matter what email I use.

Why is that? Sure wish this software would send an email of all the setup for the site. I like those better than this.
