Hello,

I would like to find how I can have a country selection in the page?

 

For visitors to select their own country, and automatically see it in their own language, currency and exact shipping costs. As default I can only do something similar in languages ​​and currencies. But not on country selection, to unregistered visitors.

You need a custom module for that. But I believe customers will have to select it again when they register, unless you heavily modify the core, as countries/addresses are bound to a customer's registration address

you could try simply turning on preferences--->geo location

 

then in localization-->countries-->edit country (set their default currency)

 

if you have a later version of 1.5 then ps will detect the visitors browser language and show them the correct language if it exists in your shop.

You mention that PS 1.5 or above will detect the browner language and switch the language. Does it also switch the currency?

 

Would it also be possible to set the default checkout country to the ip country as well?

1.5.6 and above will switch the language  based on browser.  learn more here http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/288754-tip-localization-use-ietf-code-to-set-language-of-shop-not-iso/

 

note it is not a big job to apply the 1.5.6 browser lang detect to earlier versions of 1.5.

 

for currency, you must enable pref-->geo location

then simply configure default currency by country: localization-->countries-->edit country-->set default currency

Hi, thanks, I have only 1 language enabled EN, but i have 3 currencies.

 

I have enabled geolocation in the BO and i have enabled all the countries.

 

I do not want to block any country and i do not want any restrictions on shopping

 

My default currency is HKD (Hong Kong dollar)

 

so if a user is coming from US, I want the default currency to show USD. If from Singapore should be SGD.

 

All other countries can show USD.

 

how do i enable this?

Yes it does work, after i clear the cache shift+F5 and then connect to VPN UK OR US, then it will show the correct currency.

 

if i install more language will it also change the language?

 

if the country is out of the installed currency, can i set the currency to USD? even though USD is not the store currency?

 

It would be better to POP-UP with a window and ask the user to select language and currency? is that possible?

 

I also am looking for a way to use the builtin geoip to show on #topstrip the "we now ship to xxxx country"

 

Any idea how i would do this?

By the way , it is interesting that prestasop documentation does not mention that the currency will change if we enable GEOIP in BO. it only talks about restrictions...
