stnadmin
So I'm trying to see if it is possible to have one of the stores of a multistore setup use a completely different common name. For example can I have the main store be www.xxxxxxxx.com and then add a another store using www.yyyyyyyy.com? If so how do you set up the DNS for www.yyyyyyyy.com? Thanks and if this is a silly question I apologize. Don
El Patron
Hi, not silly question at all. first be careful about url names that point to same content. Why? Duplicate content penalties. learn more here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1347922?hl=en https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/182192?hl=en with multistore it is very easy to 'point' additional url's to your one installation. from a url pointer standpoint for cpanel you would park the new url to the main domain name. For plesk you would 'alias' to the main domain name. learn more about multistore here http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Managing+Multiple+Shops

El Patron
Thanks Superstar El Patron! Figured it out and I must say I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. it's bloody awesome!...this is what I like about PrestaShop it was initially and still is developed for international localization, where many US developed open source either does not or does it poorly. the best seo is ccTLD's...multiplexing same content by country is my passion. thrillmetoo
I had the same question El Patron, the only difference fot me is, that I didn't understand the answer you gave in post 2. Could you please explane in steps what to do? I'm sure this could help others too, because Multishop is a very common searchterm in this forum. ricky11
Hi all, I have gone through the documentation and find that prestashop fails to mention that we need to set up a alias or parked domains, i do find in my cpanel lots of url redirects that have been created from SHOPB... i am quite confused about this. do i still need to create a parked domain? where does it say in the docs? thanks. El Patron
Pointing (dns) domain name is outside the scope of PrestaShop. As a general rule for these two hosting control panels: CPANEL: parked to main domain PLESK: alias to main domain but there are other hosting environments where procedure is different. they can however try to equate to the above mentioned.
