How To Setup Free Product Throw Ins?

Recommended Posts

Hi All..

I have a few items that my supplier will 'thrown in' for free as complimentary if my customer purchases a certain number of different combination of products from them.

How can I setup my site so that if my customer adds the specific quantity on 1 or more specific products, that the presta shop software will automatically add the complimentary product to their summary?

Thanks

Tom

Cart rules can deal with a free gift scenario    from cart rules go actions  and instead of applying a discount  use the free gift button and a box will pop up  where you can choose your free gift from your inventory.  then set the conditions to trigger the free gift.

thanks puffdade..

is it possible to make the `free gift product`only visible when it triggers the free gift from the Cart Rules.  I don`t want this `free gift product`to be searched and-or found by my customer so that they don`t accidentally or purposely add it to their cart just because its free..  Unless I make the price of the `free gift product`something outrgeous that nobody in their right might would add it to their cart manually.. :)

tdelios  Im far from an expert with presta  but have learnt a lot from the guys here and a lot from trial and error but will try to help

I just tested  this  and it seemed to work in testing however you might want to run a proper test sale to confirm because im not sure how presta handles products that are hidden.

set your free gift up as a product as you normally would  once saved  uncheck the tick box for that item from the products list so it has a cross,  the product then is no longer visible to your customers  then set up the product in cart rules As I suggested earlier  ironically it still finds the product  so it might work.  I just don't know if making it unavailable from the products list also makes that product unavailable under a cart rule.

I would think one of the big guns here might be able to throw some light onto this in a little more depth
