missing products from front-end

While backing up my template I lost all products from front-end

 

on the back-office i can visualize all products normally, but in the front I see nothing,

 

creating a new product works properly (after doing this operation the product is shown in front as usual)

 

but re-importing all products through csv doesn't change anything,

 

any suggestion is welcome,

 

 

if I don't find a solution soon i might reinstall (but i'd rather not)....

I finally ended up deleting the products and re-uploading them,

 

but still I couldn't figure out the cause of this strange behaviour,

 

i'll keep on following the topic in case it happened to somebody else,
