Hello there!

 

I'm having a little bit of trouble getting Prestashop installed on our Rackspace Cloud Sites account.

 

The new version of Prestashop simply wont install at all. It gets to the database creation and fails at 12%. From what I can see on a search of the forums, its a timeout issue - something which I have been unable to sort.

 

I then installed the previous version. The installer ran perfectly and relatively quickly. Once in the admin, it was sluggish. I downloaded the upgrade module to try and update the software to the most recent version and this failed - again with a timeout issue.

 

We host hundreds of websites on our cloud account and Prestashop is the only system we have had any issues with (other than Magento which is unusable).

 

I can't imagine I'm the only one using Rackspace Cloud Sites to try and host a Prestashop site so does anyone have any pointers?

Is there a chance you can increase the timeout limit on the server?

Not as far as I'm aware. I can't get access to php.ini or anything like that. I can setup a .htaccess though but not sure if that will help?

Now that's unfortunate. If it just times out, you have no other chance but increase the limit. Otherwise, can you check what kind of issue you get by opening the debug console before it reaches 12%? And, if you can, keep it open all time and see what happens into the network tab. Just to be sure it's a timeout issue
