invalid e-mail address

I can not upgrade or install any version after 1.4.4.0  

I just loaded 1.6.0.1 and it is the same

I get the error invalid e-mail address no matter what email address I use

the server is using php version 5.3.3

can anybody help 

I have enclosed a php info txt file from the server

change from apache module to fastcgi....

 

if you do not know how to do this contact your hosting company...
