Tanda
Okay I've got as far as installing the files on Filezilla, got the Fasthosts end sorted (I think) but I cant seem to get the auto installer to start. What am I doing wrong? I am a total newbie to this but am trying hard! I seem to have got stuck at the instructions: "To launch the installer, simply (ha ha) browse to PrestaShop's location on your web server: the script will automatically detect that PrestaShop is not yet installed, and will take you to the auto-installer. You can also directly type the address of the /install folder: http://your_server/prestashop_folder/install." Um okay, I think I have got the web server open (I have tried within Fasthosts in the File Manager program) I also have tried within Filezilla to see if anything happens, nothing so far. Am I looking in the wrong place?! What do I have to click on? It has taken me hours to get this far even! thanks p.s. answers will need to be in plain numpty language please! El Patron
can you give us a general overview of how you installed PrestaShop to your remote hosting site?
Tanda
I followed the installation instructions for installing filezilla etc and loaded the files onto there exactly as per the instructions. I also created a MySql database from the Fasthosts dashboard. I also created an FTP account from their dashboard, not sure if I have duplicated something? When I log into the File Manager on Fasthosts I can see all the files there? Not sure if I have omitted something in Filezilla as I notice on their example the "remote site " bar has an address on it, I just have /htdocs could this be it? thank you! You were right some of those files were missing so reinstalled all the files again..eventually..this is such a steep learning curve.. Spoke to Fasthosts today and I didnt have "scripting enabled" - doh! (didnt even know what that was, still dont, but its worked!) Hurrah Prestashop is now installing!!!!! SOO excited ....but now I am stuck at database details on step 4... have called Fasthosts again and checked the details are correct..all correct but still not working....they said change password and try again in 20 mins after its updated....just waiting now..
Tanda
Uh oh still not working, does anyone know how to proceed from here? I have checked and double checked all the info and changed the database password twice (and didnt use any funny symbols!) but it still comes up with the error: Database Server is not found. Please verify the login, password and server fields (DbPDO) I have used the database IP address as advised by Fasthosts and which shows on the hosting control panel, I have checked through a link on the control panel that i can log onto the database, all fine there. what am i doing wrong? I have entered the following: Database server address: 000.000.000..00 (as provided by web host) Database name: XXXXXXXX (same database name as displayed with web host) Database login: XXXXXXXXX (User name on database) Database password: XXXXXXXXX (user password on database) Tables prefix: ps_ SHould I start installing over again or what have I done wrong? El Patron
it's difficult to tell (for me) even though you are describing the issue well. try this, for db server address use localhost just a guess
