Customers cannot successfully update or add a new address to their account

Hi,

 

I am running PS 1.5.6.0. I just discovered that customers cannot update or add a new address to their account. It was brought to my attention so I checked it and discovered that the old account is essentially wiped out and it says "no addresses are available" with an option to add a new address.

 

I tried to add the same address that was there before and it generated this message, "The alias "My address" has already been used. Please select another one.". I selected a new alias and clicked on save and it took me right back the page which says, "no addresses are available", "Add new address".

 

Please how do I resolve this issue?

I'm getting the same error in PS 1.6.0.6.

 

Do you know the solution?
