SB-GUY
Hi, We have lost all our home directory files and we have no backup! We have a copy of the database so is it possible to use the latest prestashop installation with the old database? We do have all the product images directory so could we copy this to the new install? Thanks John
El Patron
not really, actually no, you would be much better off using a fresh 1.4.8.2 file system.
El Patron
you can get previous versions of PrestaShop here https://code.google.com/p/prestashop/downloads/list good luck!
SB-GUY
Thanks for the Response El So basically I will have to add all the products again and loose all my past orders etc....? J
El Patron
if you have the database, this is where most of the information is stored.. however if you have 'no' files, i.e. images..then you will lose of course your images which will need to be reattached to product/category..etc... start out simple, unpack your release, upload to your hosting config/settings.inc.php (this you will need to modify for db connection) Note: if you do not have the original file then all customer passwords will be 'lost', they would need to use lost password process to establish 'good' passwords... SB-GUY
El, Thanks I have the passwords and the Product image directory. I have downloaded the 1.4.8.2 release do I run the install or just edit the config/settings.inc.php to point to old database. Sorry about all the questions but thanks for you help J
El Patron
I don't think it's necessary to run the install...just upload files that are 'missing'. I would back up what's left of my file system first just in case it is over written and you find you need it later.
SB-GUY
El, I have uploaded the source and there is no settings.inc.php file in the config directory, I think this file is created on install? J

SB-GUY
El, I ahev created the file but now the URL redirects to /en/ and 404 not found, so I presuming the language module is missing. I dont think this is going to work sadly. J
