3pinespro
I've posted this issue before but have had no help. Paying four hundred bucks for support is completely unreasonable especially when this is the only issue was have to fix! The software is great and I love working with it, but I have a shipping issue that needs to be fixed. Everything is showing free shipping in the cart. How can I get it to stop doing that and showing the shipping options? The website is: www.reel-cafe.com
ibndawood
Hi, I am not able to access your store from my country. To configure shipping cost please do this : Add the carrier. Give it a name, logo, etc. Make sure you choose your zone. Once you add it you have to define its Price Range. You can access this via Shipping->Price Ranges. After that you need to define its Weight Range. You can access this via Shipping->Weight Range. Once you configure the weight range and price range, please go to Shipping->Shipping Hope this helps. 3pinespro
As near as I can tell, that's what I've done. I've opened it to India. Edited November 29, 2013 by 3pinespro (see edit history)
ibndawood
It still says the "You cannot access this from your country". Do you see the screenshot from point 6. Have u done that ? Also did you choose your default carrier ? That should definitely work.
3pinespro
I have UPS set as the default carrier but I don't have any fees set. The cost will vary depending on the weight of the package! There's no way one could set a flat fee.
ibndawood
Yes, you have to define the fees based on weight range as well as price range. Only then shipping costs will apply. You can define the weight range and its fees from Shipping -> Weight Ranges. and you can set the price range and its fees from Shipping -> Price Range If you don't set the fees, then shipping cost won't be added. 3pinespro
But how do I know what the fees will be? Shipping costs are different for each weight and for each destination!
ibndawood
Hi, The first thing you have to do is get the tariff from your carrier like the tariff based on weight and location. You can then create zones from Localization -> Zones (based on the geography served by your carrier). Then enable the carrier for the zones you created from Shipping -> Carriers -> Edit Define Weight ranges for your carrier(you can get that from the carrier itself). Shipping->Weight Ranges Once you define the weight ranges then you can edit the fees for each weight range and geography like in the screenshot. https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/aeum Hope this helps. You can try to do this (Prestashop v.1.5.6.x) : Create new Carrier, Back Office > Shipping > Carriers : Add Follow the wizard, make sure all zone selected and shipping fees are configured Try to place an order on your shop, don't forget to logged in as customer (so prestashop system can detect shipping address and calculate shipping cost). If shiping cost still free, then check product weight and make sure product weight is not 0. If you;re sure that product weight > 0, then make sure no "Free Shipping" cart rules being applied to the cart.

We only do business in North America. But, each package has a different weight and will be going to a different destination in North America. From what I can see, there's no way to use the shipping in Prestashop to accurately determine for the customer what the shipping costs!
ibndawood
Hi, You can define various zones (zones does not necessarily mean continents, its just the area to which same costs apply). * You an add more zones like North Zone, South zone, Central, South East like that. * Then you can go to Localization->States and add the states to the zones. For example, I'd add Alabama to SouthEast zone. * If your shipping cost are based on total weight then you'll have to set the weight of each product. For example: Product A - 10kg, Product B 20Kg, etc. * Then You can define weight ranges for you carriers. Like 0-15kg - cost $10 for all zones , 15-30kg cost - $20 for all zones except southeast zone and $30 for southeast zone.. * Now if my cart has product A and Product B the total weight of the cart is 30kg. Prestashop will apply 30$ as shipping cost if my zone is south east and $20 for all other zones. Hope this helps. 3pinespro
I don't have a screen like that in your screen shot. And, I don't see anyplace to add new zones. Edited December 3, 2013 by 3pinespro (see edit history)

ibndawood
In 1.5.6.1, You can add zones from Localization -> Zones. https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/d1jy and https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/4r5w Once you add zones (assuming you have imported all the states), you add the states to their respective zones. Localization->States. https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/0bgu Once you have configured zones and states, you can edit your carriers from Shipping -> Carriers. Click on your carrier and choose edit. You can then configure the cost for each zone, weight range like this : https://www.diigo.com/item/image/4h50p/9ha6 Hope this helps. 3pinespro
I still don't know what it will cost to ship to each state. Nor do I know how UPS and USPS have the states broken down. Do I just put an arbitrary amount in? That's not honest nor accurate.
stottycabanas
I guess I need to visit the UPS and USPS sites and try to figure out what their prices are, according to ibndawood. I'll give that a try, today. So did these sites not contain any cost information? Unless there is another Prestashop merchant in the same location as you, using the same services and who's willing to share the shipping data they've set up, you will have to do further research into UPS/USPS to obtain the required information. Maybe these organisations have a helpline that can direct you to what you need. Thanks, Dave
3pinespro
UPS has a chart with every zip code known to man, but nothing useful for this. I've sent them an email but haven't heard anything, yet.
ibndawood
Hi , Sorry for the delay. You might want to look into this : http://www.ups.com/media/en/standard_list_rates.pdf at page 38.
3pinespro
UPS has an API for this but I have no idea what to do with it. I got a key from them but when I put it into 'web service' in Prestashop, I got an error message saying it has to be 25 characters. I'm beginning to think there's just no way to accurately determine shipping costs with Prestashop. I guess I'll have to pay several hundreds to get a real shopping cart program.
