Force customer to choose combination selection

I have 100 products in category A each with 8 possible combinations.  When you view that category it shows the price of the default combination.  If the customer hits add to cart it adds it to the cart.  I want it to force the customer to make a selection when they click add to cart OR force it to open the products full description where it shows the possible combos where the customer can pick.

 

Side note: ON the multi store I would like the same item to have a "chart" so that the wholesale customer can input all desired qtys at one time then add to cart.

 

can this be done?

You can try disabling the buy button by default with javascript, and enable it again on the attributes box 'change' event.

I found a setting in the backoffice that takes care of this on the default template.

 

It was under preferences/products/ "Display the "add to cart" button when a product has attribute" set it to no and it fixed it

Actually, that doesn't force the customer to choose a combination on the single product page, it disables the button on the product listing

Still on the product details page if the costumer clicks the add to cart button then the default combination gets added to the cart. This feature is a must but prestashop lacking this. Hope Presta  will come with this feature very soon.

So far most of the stuff I've needed or thought were missing features/bugs were just set up with a different logic than I was expecting.  Once I figured out some of it then the rest wasn't so bad.  Still learning a whole lot but I'm getting the hang of it.
