Changing categories levels/formatting

Hi there

 

I'm pretty new to prestashop. I'm trying to change the design of how the categories (and subcategories) are presented in the left side column.

 

Instead of a header for that block labelled categories I would like just the top level categories (e.g. iPods, Accessories, etc.) formatted as the the categories header. So basically the formatting should just change one level and the "categories" should be removed.

 

I'll try to illustrate this. In the default theme it look like this:

 

CATEGORIES

iPods

iPads

Accessories

-Headphones

 

And I would like something like this

 

IPODS

IPADS

ACCESSORIES

Headphones

-possibly a sub-sub category

 

Does it make sense? And can it be done without too much coding?
