jetwong98
Hi, Where to download 1.6 and test ? Prestashop 1.5.6 does not look professional in terms of front-end design & layout, too ugly & primitive, not comparable to Magento & OpenCart. I'm eager to have a look on 1.6 coz the short demo video looks quite promising. Thanks.

Hi jetwong, there are forum threads in this forum that tell you directly where to download it.http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/290279-alpha-package-of-v16-is-now-available/ Also, you can Google it as well, that usually works. If you are unhappy with the layout, please submit your feedback to [email protected] .

jetwong98
Thanks, downloaded and tested, no noticeable changes in terms of features and user-friendliness beside a fancier theme (very slow in the backend). 1.) Specific Price Rule cannot be edited, only delete, unacceptable. 2.) My Account Block (On Header) is worse than 1.5, nothing appear, no My Account wording, only Sign Out. 3.) Reward & Loyalty is not working. 4.) For product comparison, when viewed on mobile, it does NOT working, out of scope. I still prefer the way of Magento & OpenCart, cleaner, prettier & more straight-forward. I still dunno why No Unique Product SKU, the Reference, EAN13 and UPC fields are NOT unique. Often, we need to Auto Generate Unique SKU to prevent duplicate inputs of the same product esp in combination with attributes. This is the Major Drawback of Prestashop. jetwong98
Seemingly still no Product Count within each category, just a fancier responsive theme with Grid support

Hello jetwong98, 1 - I agree, this is something that we should add. This probably won't be added to the 1.6.0 since we don't want to add any features at this stage but this will be in future release. 2 & 3 - This will be fixed. 4 - Responsive is currently in progress. Please do not forget that this is only an alpha 1, merely a preview of what the final product will look like. Some things are not working and we were not expecting them to (at this stage). Thanks for your feedback!

Only in this way can reach as Magento ecommerce and oscommerce. I should point out that I also use for my prestashop sites.

If we cannot decide to freeze the number of feature for a release, the developers cannot work on making sure the version is stable. Adding a feature can modify the behaviour of others and therefore, we could work endlessly before releasing something to our merchants. Moreover the feature in question is a nice-to-have, far from being important or game changing. There's no reason to focus right now on this improvement while there are others subjects that require our attention. Best Regards,

Dh42
Features as modules should be explored. Both features requested here could be added in a module form. As a developer I am honestly getting frustrated with the database model changing. 1.6 was not supposed to have any core changes, only bug fixes and a new theme. But yet the database model has changed again. I would like to purpose that someone freeze the database model, quit adding features to the core, and start adding the features as modules. Then once the modules are deemed stable roll them into the next full version release.
damian5000
The OP is way off base. OpenCart and Magento don't look any better than PrestaShop. This is entirely up to the theme you use. OpenCart vanilla looks crap. Magento Commerce vanilla looks slightly nicer than PrestaShop's vanilla, but not by much and it comes down to taste as well. Some might prefer Presta's vanilla. Regardless, premium Presta themes easily equal the best OpenCart or Magento themes. If you're going to compare Presta vanilla to a well-made premium Magento or OpenCart theme, yea you might have a point. Otherwise.... No. Edited December 1, 2013 by damian5000 (see edit history)
benjamin utterback
Although this is the Alpha version, we still greatly appreciate the feedback given by anyone who tests it. It's better to tell us every little thing you find wrong than to not tell us because it may seem obvious or less important. Every little bit helps and that's why we love the feedback. Cheers,
