Transform product to gift voucher

Hi,

I would like to add the possibility of giving a product as a gift, instead of a sum of money. As we're selling food it would not be delivered right away, instead when the customer wants it.

 

So my idea is the following.. You choose a product, and in the cart summary you click in a box "I want this product as a gift voucher" and then continue as normal. 

When they want the food, they use the code that's been generated.

 

Is this possible? How can I do?
