claybourg
I created a new install of 1.5.6.1 and I want to connect an existing 1.5.6.1 db. 1. I wiped out all data of the new install db 2. I imported an sql dump of the existing db to the new one 3. I replaced settings.inc.php from the original install to the new install and replaced the db name to the new one 4. I made sure the user can access the new db with phpmyadmin I can't connect to the BO and lost password link does not work.
NemoPS
hm, what kind of error do you get? You should go to the configuration tab and adjust the base uri settings as well, if they have changed
claybourg
I could not login to admin. However I did it again from scratch, created a 1.5.6.1 shop which I linked to my 1.5.6.0 db and it worked. thanks anyway
benjamin utterback
I could not login to admin. However I did it again from scratch, created a 1.5.6.1 shop which I linked to my 1.5.6.0 db and it worked. thanks anyway In some cases connecting a previous database to a new install will work, however the existing shop would need to be pretty fresh itself, because an existing shop will have database entries that may conflict with a new DB. Did you existing shop have a lot of changes and data on it?
claybourg
It is a fresh site indeed so not too much data in the db. It did not work 100% though, for example there's an issue with the product images not displaying in the BO. Now I'm upgrading to 1.5.6.1 but the reason I tried this is because JS is screwup on my site and lots of JS things stopped working including adddin / updating products, stats and other links in the BO even after I upgrade to 1.5.6.1. So my strategy is to upgrade the live site then hook up the upgraded live db to a fresh install of 1.5.6.1.
benjamin utterback
Okay cool, I'm glad it worked out but I just wanted to make sure people are aware about the Fresh DB with Old data connection. Sometimes it's difficult to link them, like a master key that works for all the outside house door but not all the inside doors.
claybourg
In other words once you start you have to either stick to the version you're in or keep upgrading constantly from your live db or if you get distanced by upgrade it's trouble once you want to switch. benjamin utterback
Kind of. Upgrading will upgrade both the database and PrestaShop files. Your full store is both your database and the PrestaShop files, one can usually not live without the other. For example when you backup, you want to make sure that you backup BOTH your database and PrestaShop files at the same time. If you backup at different times, linking them up again can cause problems.
claybourg
I'm struggling with this now. I have a back office that does not work, I upgraded to 1561 from 1560 and still BO not working I then hooked up the live db to the new clean install and then it's not recognizing it's a 1561 version and wants to upgrade again. I don't get it.
testjustintime
Hi, 3 years later still someone facing this issue, but finally solved it for my part... If you still have no acces to your BO following all the steps above it is absolutely normal. There is one more step you should do: change your password through your database. Bc your freshly created prestashop has a different password than your old one eventhough you chose the exact same. You will find how to do that in following link: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/prestashop-15/308-password-change-via-database Hope this will still help someone
