How to make the product reference # change with different sizes?

Hi.....obviously the product reference number (or ID) should change if the product size attribute changes in the FO when ordering, at the very least for inventory management. For instance: quarts, 1/2 gallons, gallons.

 

In the default, I'm seeing only one option for product reference # in-between size and quantity attributes. This means one ref # is applied to all three sizes.

 

Right now I can only use TTF. I'd like to use TTF32, TTF64, and TTF128.

 

Does anyone have a solution for this?

The only way I know of to do this is with product combinations.

For instance, you can set up attributes for quart, 1/2 gallon, gallon, etc and then within the combinations, you can have a unique product reference number.
