Show all top level categories on its own page

What I am looking for is a way to show all categories on its own page.

 

Say if I have a "products" link in my navigation, and clicking that takes you to a page that shows you all the categories.

 

Is there a thing like this in default prestashop?

No I use my own custom theme

 

Kind of hard to explain exactly what I am after, but all I want to see is some kind of grid with all the categories(name, image, description) when I click a link in the navbar, no products or anything, just the categories.

so... where you want to display product list? how customer will know about products if you want to disable product list in each category page?

You click the category and get you get to the product list of that category

this is why im asking about where you want to display products. from your description above it looks like you don't want to display products in category page. if you remove products from category view, they products will not appear

I am not talking about category-view, I'm talking about category list, just like the module, but for the whole page with the category picture and description. Then that would be a link to the category-view.
