NemoPS
You must increase the max_time_limit variable in your php.ini It should be on your root. If not, ask your hosting provider to increase it for you

NemoPS
In this case, I am afraid there is nothing to do. You can try a manual upgrade maybe

Tanu
even mine is hostgator and I chatted live with them they refused at first then asked my cell phone number and called me and then i gave them my password for both control panel (hostgator) and back end of prestashop then they upgraded my website. Before as well they helped me with some issues and instantly my problem was solved. Actually my hosting provider is from india and customer agents are also from india So chat live with them and explain your problem to them they will definitely help you I am sure of it As for prestashop there is no contact available but you have to contact forums to get help and here people help you like Nemo1 helped me before as well in forums I received help. There are some great experts here in this forum always guiding you Edited November 15, 2013 by Tanu (see edit history)
lkchilders
I have talked with hostgator and now they send me this: Hello,I sincerely apologize, however in reviewing the documentation for their automatic update button, that is still an experimental feature. Unfortunately as the only error message regarding this is that the current configuration does not allow the upgrade, we can not say specifically what the script would need for this feature to work properly. Regretfully, as mentioned, this sort of issue does fall outside our typical scope of support. What I can see from this, however, is that you appear to need to update a module, as well as having your shop disabled while attempting that function. You can review that message from within your Admin panel under Tools > Upgrade. I have no idea what this 'module' is they are referring to, nor how to upload the blessed thing, but it is module 1.1.9. Hostgator told me I would have to disable my store, but I've tried that and it simply doesn't work, I've tried disabling it 10 times now and it will not disable. Sooooo, since I am unable to figure this out, and I don't know how to use FTP, and neither HostGator nor Prestashop seems to want to assist me, I will search for a host and shopping cart company who WILL. Every time I have tried to upgrade for the past year I have been unable to do so. I'm finished with this nonsense, HostGator and Prestashop. Tanu
I am so sorry to hear this. But I got help instantly from hostgator, India. I agree with you Prestashop sucks I also went for prestashop after I read great reviews of it being the best. But after 6 months and after spending approximately USD 300-400, I genuinely regret my decision. The template alone was more then USD 200 and it was expensive but wheneve I get in touch with the template developer they do not reply for days and when they do reply they are not of any help they are French and language is a great barrier They find it difficult to understand English. Till 6 months I have not even launched my website yet and I am spending money like water and as soon as I have made enough money I am leaving Prestashop. Already I have wasted my time in trying to upload bulk products and in Prestashop cvs import does not work I have tried everything I could. After reading forums I got to know that there are problems in CVS import therefore I am now uploading products one by one Fed up of Prestashop. Even there guide is not helpful at all. As for your problem what can I say move if you have not spent enough money on it and find some better open souse shopping cart. First research on net and ask the owners of website how they are finding working with that open source. I feel bad for you really. But let me help you. I will try. In your Prestashop Backend please click module and see there if any modul needs to be updated. Usually it is clearly mentioned which module needs updation. Then close your shop by clicking Preference and then click maintenance it is second from bottom then select NO infront of Enable shop. then try to update through click one. Talk to host gator once again give them their password and user name of prestashop and then they will help you this time I am sure. Do let me know what they have to say Even I find it difficult to update through FTP.
