Create order from cart

Hi,

 

Let me explain my case. I'm using an external payment gateway, so before to go to make the payment I want to save or insert the order  for avoid missing it,  If the payment fails the customer is returned to my website but the shopping cart is NOW empty. 

 

I want to use the same cart to place a new order, but I got the message: 'Cart cannot be loaded or an order has already been placed using this cart'.

 

In other words I want to insert many orders with the same customer's  cart, 

 

Please help
