redactuk
Can someone explain to me why every time you edit a Carrier it gets assigned a new ID? I'm just about to upgrade my site from 1.5.4.1 to 1.5.6.0 which has new Shipping wizard and I was very much hoping this was a bug that had been resolved from previous versions. bellini13
because the carrier may have been used in a previous order. changing the carrier would impact the order that was already placed, and in most cases it should not. So when you edit a carrier, you are really creating a new carrier with the updates. The old carrier is not deleted, but rather it is hidden. Any old orders referencing that carrier will still display the old carrier information.
redactuk
Thanks bellini So what happens if you delete a Carrier? I mean surely that then completely screws up the integrity of all orders that referenced it?
bellini13
I just explained, carriers are not physically deleted when you 'delete' them. now if you go into the database and physically delete a carrier, then yes you will screw up the integrity of any orders/carts that are referencing them. you shouldn't do this
