Adding static text to home page

I am really a newbe with Prestashop.  I would like to easily add some static text to the home page in the right column (the space is blank).  Is there any easy way to do this?

 

Also, I would like to change some of the links in the black footer, but I can't seem to find where they are located.  Could you help me?

Theirs a great free module HERE that will allow to add images or text etc to your columns

Thanks.  I downloaded it, but how do you use it?  I don't see any documentation.  The sample photos on their website were too small for me to read.
