When You know how PrestaShop works, and You have all backups - then its easy.

Yesterday I re-establish one shop, where owner has made not successful upgrade. All files ware updated, but database not. I revert everything back to 1.1.0.5 version (owner doesn't has backups of files) and after that I made successful upgrade to 1.2.4.0 - no problem at all. You need toi give settings.inc.php file also write permissions.

But main thing is - backups, backups and backups.... Use phpMyAdmin for database backups and download all files!
