How to handle one-time, unique products?

Does Prestashop have a way to handle one-time, unique products? Such as a single product that will only have a quantity of 1 available, and then will never be available again.

 

Let's say a shop using Prestashop wants to sell a used cell phone. What's the best way to handle adding that item to the shop with a quantity of 1 available, then having it be unavailable after someone has purchased it? Is it necessary to simply deactivate the "out of stock" product once a customer has purchased it? Concern there is that after years, there will be hundreds or thousands of deactivated products in the system.

If you have the product (or global value) set to 'not allow order' when out of stock.  The product will show but can not be purchased.

another nice thing with 1.5, not sure when they released it, but once a product is disabled you can edit the product and change the default 404  to a 301 or 302 redirect to another product.
