preserver
I don't need products sorted by name on my site. I tried commenting out part of the product-sort file of the theme I'm using. I'm not sure if I did it right though... Is that right? Maybe I should have put the commenting out ending after the last {/if}... I don't know code (this is html, isn't it?) {* {/if} <option value="name:asc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'asc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: A to Z'}</option> <option value="name:desc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'desc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: Z to A'}</option> {if !$PS_CATALOG_MODE} <option value="quantity:desc" {if $orderby eq 'quantity' AND $orderway eq 'desc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='In stock'}</option> *} {/if} I'm using the default theme of version 1.5.4.1 (with a cool grid view modification that I got from Nemo!) Any pointers would be helpful ;-) Thank you
vekia
how your pagination.tpl code looks like? (it's based on default theme?)

It should be the same as default. I have the products per page set to 60, so it doesn't show up as an option much. I don't think that matters, but just in case... I did read a post from Rocky where he talked about commenting out both the pagination and sort by- I get the impression they work together. Thanks for the help! preserver
Does anyone know if commenting out just the sort by name part of the "sort by" code is how to remove that function?
vekia
hello sorry i missed your reply. Your sorting code is probably in product-sort.tpl file you can remove sort by name option there <option value="name:asc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'asc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: A to Z'}</option> <option value="name:desc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'desc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: Z to A'}</option>
preserver
No problem, and thanks for helping out. I tried commenting out only the code you entered, but that didn't remove the sort by name. I also tried putting the opening bracket earlier: {* <option value="name:asc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'asc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: A to Z'}</option> <option value="name:desc" {if $orderby eq 'name' AND $orderway eq 'desc'}selected="selected"{/if}>{l s='Product Name: Z to A'}</option> *} That didn't do the job either. I had the cache off, so that shouldn't be an issue. Is commenting out the code (like so {* ) preferable to deleting it in case you want or need to use it later? I am trying to understand if I should delete the code or just use {* *}.
