cannot delete products? deemed to be in ordering process?

when I want to delete products which we do not carry anymore then I receive an error message that the product cannot be delete because the product is in an ordering process. but that product is disabled already and cannot be in an ordering process?! any idea what can cause the product not be deleted? and how to delete it? I already deleted all (old) carts which did not lead to an order (since those which became an order I cannot delete anyway) but no help.

The products were sold once ? Your orders are all marked with "delivered", or are there some open not added finished status ? Deleted Orders for ex.

Problem on PS-Versions 1.4. are that warehouse functions are very buggy and this problem can hang in some open process (also credit notes). If you already deactivated the products so it is all what you can do, if you cannot delete them. Also extra modules from German Community you are using could be make a problem and do not allow to delete the products. There are several overrides overwritting Presta default code. To find the guilty one should be a gauntlet running.
