[Help]Insert search block in header of page

I need help to hook my search block into the header of the page.I tried to change in modules/positions but didn't work.I think it might need an code change.I also need to remove an space in the header of the page (marked with an X in the picture).Please, see the picture below with the changes that I need.

I use Presta 1.5.3 and velvetsky modified theme.

it's hard to say what you have to do without access to tpl files of your theme.

can you show how your header.tpl file looks like?

i think that it will be much easier to edit this file than changing position of search block module
