jonmig
After installing Prestashop v1.5.0.17 the one click upgrade module fails to upgrade to the latest version of Prestashop 1.5.6.0 ,(error indicates searching for Md5 files) ... After scouring the net and asking on this forum the only solution respectfully offered is that Safe mode is enabled on the server and after speaking with my hosts I am told that it is easy to disable by the user as follows: email from host support I have spoken to my supervisor about this for you, you can enable the safe mode within the php.ini file within the cgi-bin folder on the hosting. After checking the php.ini file it turns out that safe mode is already disabled ... can anyone shine a light on this one please I can't find a solution anywhere cheers Mike (reason for this upgrade ,I purchased a theme which apparently was coded in an earlier version of Prestashop and am told that I need to upgrade by the one click module for it to work properly) Edited October 17, 2013 by jonmig (see edit history)

jonmig
Thank you El Patron for your ultra fast response After reading that post I'm just wondering if I have a development version then? ,I was given this particular Prestashop install folder by Monster-templates when they explained that I need to use an earlier version to work with the template...'wow' this is a problem..... do you think it would have the same effect as using the one click module if I do a manual upgrade (not sure how to do this but I can learn) cheers Mike
El Patron
it's hard to say...this gets very complicated.. I would look at the propose fix, back up those files...apply the fix and try the upgrade. note: make sure to back up your production shop before doing upgrade, i.e. ftp down root files and export db via phpmyadmin
jonmig
fortunately at the moment El Patron I don't have a fully loaded shop as I am just starting off so theres no need to backup anything , I have had major hickups whilst getting to this point with mainly memory errors however with the kind help of yourself and the other great moderators and members on here they have solved these for me ,then with the new release of v1.5.6.0 everything was perfect but after purchasing my chosen theme I have had to go back to this earlier version 1.5.0.17 and I'm now having this major upgrade problem ... I have tried to edit the code as the link suggested but after doing it exactly the module refuses to play ball and I am getting all kinds of weird things happening ,like the whole modules list disappears and I am also thrown an internet blank screen etc etc so I have replaced the files wih the originals and now I am back to square one ..I guess I will just have to experiment until I can get a working shop again. cheers Mike Edited October 18, 2013 by jonmig (see edit history)

jonmig
Thanks El Patron I will try that everything actually worked when I had the latest version of Prestashop loaded v1.5.6.0 and installed the theme on top (except the product installer wasn't functioning correctly , I couldn't see any image nor add any products) I was then told by Monster-templates that this earlier version v1.5.0.17 had to be installed first for this particular theme to function perfectly.. cheers Mike

El Patron
I will sit happily on my old tried and true 1.4.6.2
jonmig
I'm presuming you mean 1.4.6.2 version of Prestashop, does running a much earlier version not inhibit your experience of using the latest additions El Patron ... so far I've learnt that the Md5 file is a 128bit serial code replicating a digital fingerprint ,therefore the update module is looking for a verification match ..
El Patron
they key to working on any version is being able to search, for example I used dreamweaver...which this I can search for stings in files or complete site etc. if you can find the exact code issuing the error then you have a chance to debug it or at least post it...a as for earlier versions, if it not broken then don't fix it. works ok for my little shop but for larger shops and real goods sales then having the latest and greatest is desirable. I work with a lot of versions and do like 1.5 a lot. There was only one report (I could find on forge), and it was solved with upgrade of installer. Try searing for your error in google "prestashop forge (your error).
jonmig
I'm going to take your advice El Patron ,my theme works in the version it was written for so why upgrade for the moment! I will keep an eye on the forums and see if anybody else can provoke the solution from the Prestashop boffins .. I officially hand the mantle over lol Thank you for ALL your valuable assistance cheers Mike Edited October 20, 2013 by jonmig (see edit history)
