Urbanfarmer
Hi....anything more than alittle html and I'm lost, so I'm sure this is easy. But not for me. I downloaded yesterday using Bitnami to local, and was playing with the default template. Today I can't get back. I just keep getting the usual message. "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to......." Nothing I click on in my Bitnami Programs files gets me there. Please help. Thanks......
Urbanfarmer
Would the problem be related to the fact that I ran the download instead of save as? If so, why do I have Bitnami on my (C:) drive at 344MB?
benjamin utterback
What was the URL you used to get into your store? The URL should be the same. The BitNami installer has preloaded all the applications that it comes with. That is why it is a large file. However, you should be able to access the PrestaShop stack using the URL you set up. It should start with an IP in your URL
Urbanfarmer
Thanks for the quick reply. This is the url that attempts to load. I had to go to port 81 originally because 80 was occupied. http://75.255.127.201:81/prestashop/administration/ Edited October 15, 2013 by Urbanfarmer (see edit history)
Urbanfarmer
I uninstalled and will try again tomorrow with xampp or wamp.
benjamin utterback
Hi Urbanfarmer, the link seems like one that BitNami would use. Do you have a folder called BitNami PrestaShop Stack? Inside, there should be a link to Launch PrestaShop BitNami Stack.
Urbanfarmer
Yes, I have the Stack and Launch link, but it's the same result. There are several ways to get to the same place and I've tried them all repeatedly. No go. I will try xampp or wamp. I'll post the results. Thanks......... benjamin utterback
Strange indeed. If you are going to try xampp, make sure to take a look at this tutorial, http://blog.dh42.com/installing-prestashop-locally/
Urbanfarmer
I made it through installation (xampp) and up to this point in the tutorial, which is nearly at the bottom of the page. I opened Prestashop in a Public folder and extracted the files there. Then the tutorial says...... "In your browser navigate to localhost/prestashop" I entered http://localhost/prestashop in the address bar of my browser, but I get error 404, object not found. So I'm not seeing the installation screens, and don't know what to do next. What don't I understand?
benjamin utterback
What is the folder name that you used within your root directory. In the tutorial, the folder was is c:\xampp\htdocs/prestashop Is this the same for you?
Urbanfarmer
Got it. I had to move folders around until I got c:\xampp\htdocs/prestashop together in the public directory. Hopefully bookmarking the link will get me back. I also saved it as a txt.doc to copy & paste if needed. I appreciate your help, as I am not very techie. Thanks.......
