[SOLVED] Wierd bug: Making changes to localization config & other settings makes content dissapear!

Recommended Posts

Hello, hope someone can help.

Problem

When I changed the setting in Localization > Configuration > Default language from US English to UK English the Minic slider Disappeared! When I change the setting back it re appears ???

Changing some other settings in the back office made product description content disappear - I wasn't able to make a note of what those specific settings were.

I have replicated the problem with the language change on 2 separate installs on 2 completely unrelated servers, so I conclude this is a bug in Presta. Can anyone help explain what has happened? And how to fix it?

Unfortunately this happened in front of my client on the first time they sat down and started to get familiar with the back office. A very bad start. I need to be able to give them a clear explanation to make them feel confident in PS.

Appreciate any help shedding light on this quite serious bug. Thanks

Set up / Background info

I have a fresh install of PS 1.5.5.0

I have minimal added content to work with whilst doing set up, and added Minic slider to header. (see here for details http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/277276-solved-how-to-place-a-banner-at-the-very-top-of-the-page-above-the-header/)

Hello again Vekia :)

All descriptions are in UK English (except those Apple products that were in the default install I guess).

Ah! I have an inkling of possible understanding of whats going on here..

- The descriptions in the dummy content would be considered to be US English by PS, and when I set up Minic slider, PS localization setting was still set to US English, so PS logically assumes that both were in a 'different language' to UK English and thus 'switched off' the content and presumably looked for UK English version to replace it with when I changed the setting to UK English?

Is that the answer? I hope so!
