Soapa
Looks great. I am just new but I have to ask. Will it be easy to upgrade from 1.5.6 to 1.6?
Dh42
It should be the easiest upgrade ever. It does not affect any core files and Prestashop has a great 1-click upgrading tool.
Soapa
Thanks for the fast response. And what if you have a theme installed? Is it going to mess up my theme? Thanks again!!
Dh42
From what I understand the version will be a new backoffice theme and a new front office theme. If you choose not to use the front office theme, nothing will change. But that is all speculation given what I have seen and what prestashop has said. infoseek
You can find it on Prestashop's github under bootstrap. thanks ,I have download bootstrap from github, and I have seen the brand-new back office, but front look the same with version 1.5,can not see the front as the blog have said http://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/introducingprestashop-version-1-6/
NemoPS
Yes, the new front office is not included in the download yet
infoseek
i see,but why the new version in the github calls bootstrap?is it because in version 1.6 prestashop introduces http://getbootstrap.com/ into prestashop?
indus
yes, that is almost confirmed. They will be using bootstrap theme. In fact one of the developers mentioned this on their facebook page. Edited October 13, 2013 by indus (see edit history)

Enrique Gómez
It seems really interesting. I only expect that they test everything well because marketing and good development don't usually go together..
PrestaCoder.com
It seems really interesting. I only expect that they test everything well because marketing and good development don't usually go together.. Well, it really depends. Take a look at Apple...their products are going really well with the marketing. I really like what Presta Team has come with the interface of back office. Look forward to see the front design as well.
CaveFish
Looks nice, but lot of wasted screen space with this vertical menu. Double vertical menus in the product view is disturbing.
indus
If any of you have noticed the original prestashop video http://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/introducingprestashop-version-1-6/ , the front office theme is this : http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/46629.html Iam sure that is used as an example only though with the author's permission. Or maybe the theme is being developed by that author. Or maybe that is indeed the default theme for 1.6, in which case it will be great. Themes on template monster are usually 140 $, including this theme. Edited October 18, 2013 by indus (see edit history)

Edit : Hmm some things are different, though the girl in the blue jacket is the same. Maybe thats just a coincidence. http://imagebin.org/273970 Edited October 18, 2013 by indus (see edit history)
indus
Anyway, iam hoping to upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6 by the time this releases with a paid theme. If the front office theme is as good as in the video, iam sticking with the default theme.

benjamin utterback
Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that the Front Office has also been uploaded to GitHub under the Bootstrap branch. See the (mostly) full Back and Front Office to test as you want. And please, I know that if you know how to download the package from GitHub and Test Install it you know this already but just in case. DO NOT use the Github package for any live store whatsoever. What is up on GitHub is just for viewing and test purposes. When the Alpha version is released it will be better for testing but go ahead and download it and test. NemoPS
Here is one, I wasn't able to select the language during installation, so it was set to my locale (italian) here (attached) It's a bit off, and when you load the page no tab is visible (on new arrivals etc) It seems that those tabs are hardcoded, and contain a hook, so I presume the new products block and home featured are plugged to that hook (I still haven't had a chance to inspect them) edit: installed again from scratch, this time I could select english (weird! there was no select box last time)

Rolige
I think.. > Front Office is a huge jump, beautiful, competitive, modern, now with bootstrap included, basically most of people don't will need an extra template. > Back Office looks too really nice but this double vertical menu in the products is a wrong way, maybe need back to the horizontal menu in product creation, because now the master menu is vertical, at naked eye can't see more than any other design improvements, i hope the final release will contain some good improvements, maybe the posibility to insert cities in the states, like states into countries. > In functionality, Prestashop 1.5 Final version had an arrival with many important errors, it would be very good that the final version 1.6 have a least as possible free of serious errors. Congratulations for this new ps
