categories not displaying for new langages

Hello,
I just updated to Prestashop 1.2.3 all seems to work, apart from not being able to view the categories for any new languages that are added.
It works fine for english, french but i added italian and on the shop front office, i get the category block, but no categories are listed.
Yes, i have translated the categories to italian.
Perhaps I need to delete the langauge and then install it again?
Please advise
