Tayo
When we try to use Paypal as a payment method in a cart we get redirected to a Page not found page. Maybe there is some bug in the latest Paypal 3.6 module that it is not possible to use just by installing it in the normal way (http://www.prestashop.com/en/set-up-payment-module)? What we did was install the module and fill in the credentials (an already existing account, since we used this for our other webshop, not Prestashop). Then we add a product to shopping cart, check out as guest (in Netherlands) and then we click on "PAY WITH YOUR CARD OR YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT" and we get a Page not found. Do we have to do something else besides installing and adding credentials? If not, is this some kind of bug? What could cause this message? - website -> http://www.thingseyelove.com/ - Prestashop 1.5.5 - Paypal 3.6 - made a copy of default theme and changed the styling ourselves - it is hosted at Vidahost We have cleared the cache many times, and tried is with different browsers. We have reset the htaccess bij turning off and on the Friendly url. You can reproduce this via our website. I added screenshots to show what we see and that the page express_checkout/payment.php does exist on the server. The only strange thing I noticed was that even though I set the page to English, when I get the Page not found error, the language has been set the Nederlands (I live in Netherlands). Not sure if this gives a clue to the cause of the problem/bug? We thought this was going to be the easy part, but unfortunately ...
Tayo
Anybody? Today we have set up a temporary subdomain to see if we can find the cause but we cannot. We set up a complete clean install PS 1.5.5, we did absolutely nothing except added only the Paypal module (3.6 Europe) and we still get the error. You can reproduce this via http://prestashop.thingseyelove.com, click on a product an click on Paypal checkout. Here you get a 404. Anybody give a guess what could be causing this? Tayo
For now the nice support people at Vidahost have solved this bug where in the standard default clean install the Paypal module has permissions set incorrectly (or wrongly detected) and only 755 will work. SOLVED Edit -not solved- it just looked like it because we could login to paypal account, but after that payment still not possible. --- Just an update for those who find this. This has never been solved and there has been no help/suggestions for this problem. For PS 1.5.5 and Paypal module it seems to not be too stable, it will work for some and not for others. We now have to do Paypal via a work-around by using a payment provider who also handles Paypal (for an extra fee ofcourse). spring00
I have the same problem. Strangely I have two sites hosted with Vidahost, one has the problem and the other doesn't. Both are versions 1.5.4.1. They are very similar (default theme, etc). The shop which works fine with paypal has the paypal module version 3.4.6. The other shop wont work with this module or the latest paypal module. Its very frustrating as the shop is live and my client is losing orders and is not happy as I promised to install paypal. In the past module problems have been solved by resetting the module, upgrading (or downgrading) the module and even deleting unwanted modules. But none of this works this time. We just get the 'page unavailable' page showing when we click 'pay by paypal'. Can anyone help please?
spring00
I solved this by changing the permission of the modules folder to 755. We've tested paypal and its working now. Hope this helps someone else.
Tayo
Setting permissions to 755 is indeed the first step to trying to solve this. Unfortunately for me this doesn't work (our paypal module and all subdirectories have 755 and all files have 644). With us it seems it cannot return to the correct page (to verify purchase) in PS after clicking on Buy in Paypal.
