[solved]Change Default Currency

Recommended Posts

Thanks EI Patron for your valuable support.

one thing i want to know .... due to paypal i am using USD as default currency (In case of INR paypal will display error).

Is there any  way to set INR as default currency and Paypal will also work fine without currency problem.

This is because in back office now order section, invoice and delivery slip all are generated in USD and i want these stuff in INR only.

So please suggest me how to solve this problem???

El Patron - I'm just honest ;)

anyway, im so curious what's going on in deepak0212's case

deepak0212 has shop default currency of USD.  So all visitors logged and non-logged will see his shop prices in USD.  They must manually change their currency to get Indian currency.  Localizing a shop at country level in PS is a snap, just set on geolocation and change countries default currency.

Note: the problem with currency setting by country, is that converted currency has a funny ending.  That is why I wrote my Price Charming module.  I run I think 20 currencies, matched to country, and charm the ending...:)

Now for example, if you visit my shop from Poland, they see their currency with a nice ending, and are some of my best customers. :)

when you localize your currency by country, in this case to a currency not supported by PayPal, then you  must offer them a payment method that accepts rupees.  PayPal will 'not' convert rupees to dollars for you. (you can test this of course as I am not the defacto expert)

This is done in modules-->payment modules...set paypal to usd (or better yet in your case to shop default currency)...and then another payment method for rupees.  Then at checkout  usd purchases will be offered paypal, and for rupees another payment method.

There may very well be paid paypal module that converts to accepted currency, bellin13 might know.

As for invoices, they are done in the currency the customer selected.

btw: a dirty little secret, a country is not considered '1st' world until their currency is accepted by paypal...welcome Russia!

thanks , it work

but when i choose INR as currency and place any order.  then the mail sent to user for payment confirmation is in USD and invoice is also in USD.

So how to change invoice and mail currency format???

I would open a new forum post...stating this...more community members can help you that way...(pm me the link of the new forum post)

I am going to mark this thread as solved.

Hey El Patron and Vekia,

I've got a question here: my default currency is AUD and country is Australia but whenever a payment is made on Paypal, it shows USD. Also, if I disable USD, my bank wire module refuses to work. What do you think is happening? I could really use your help. Thank you!

I suspect under modules-->payment modules that you have paypal (and possibly bankwire) set to use shop default currency...that's my guess

I need help with sort of a similar situation.

All my product prices are in BWP which is not supported by paypal but i need to process payments via pay pal.  I also need my default currency to be in BWP. is there any way to convert to USD when the paypal method is selected?

an easy way to do this:

back office-->preferences-->geolocation

enable geolocation

back office-->localization-->countries

edit country India,  set the default currency to  whatever you want

now when a visitor with IP that relates to India enters the shop their currency will be what you defined for that country

 I no longer recommend (geo location-->set country default currency) geolitecity.dat is ONLY 85% accurate and results in valid customers not being able to shop.

Note: Native PrestaShop Geo Location, when IP can not be resolved disallow the visitor from shopping.

I recommend turning off geo location, we have module that includes additional extension of non-resolved IP's here.

More work in Geo Location resulted in release of Advanced Visitor Language and Currency logic, for the purpose of  this topic, this module will match the visitors browser language to your shops language code and will set default currency based on native prestashop localization-->countries-->edit country-->set default currency.  This is best solution for PrestaShop (at the time of this writing)
