Suraj
thanks for the info but i was aware of that but the thing is my ip is dynamic and as we have few admins that need to access the site when it is in the maintenance mode. how we can do that ? only with 1 ip is not working for us as we used different pcs from different locations when maintaining the site. Patric
Actually, only 1 IP address can be specified.
nitascript
I have used scripts that automatically allow the logged in admin to access the front page. I am no coder, but surely there must be some way to accomplish this in Prestashop. Allowing who can see the front office when in maintenance mode should be by administrator and not by IP.I am new to Prestashop and have been working on learning how to set up a site. It is really a pain to keep having to go to whatismyip.com and then add a new IP in the back office.
MrBaseball34
I agree, there are several things with PS that make them tiny players in the e-commerce market compared to Magneto and osCommerce. They lack a lot of features in the admin and checkout areas as well as their clunky upgrade process compared to the others. SpyrosT
Actually, only 1 IP address can be specified. If it's only 1, then why the discription says....IP addresses allowed to access the Front Office even if shop is disabled. Use coma to separate them (e.g., 42.24.4.2,127.0.0.1,99.98.97.96)
Patric
Because my post has been made on September 11th, 2009 and that feature has been improved since that time.
MrBaseball34
Yes, they don't have this board configured very well. It should give a warning about replying to posts older than 6 months. You can't mark forums as read and can't search each forum, the list goes on...and on...and on...This has to be the most jacked up PHPBB I've ever seen. to have all those features disabled. Patric
Try the Advanced Search, you will be surprised. There you can choose the forum in which to search, the date (1 day, 1 week, 1 month), etc.
Gachmuret
After that the multiple IP problem is resolved there is still another problem...How to use a dynamic IP as maintenace IP?For example: I have a DynDNS.com account, who is forwarding example.dyndns.org to my actual IP refreshing all 60 seconds, how can I use this address as "Maintenance IP"??I tried to just put it in there example.dyndns.org but it doesn't seem to workAny Ideas?PS: I'm the admin but I'm accessing my Shop from a broadband connection with changing IPs
rocky
I can't think of any good solution. The only option is to put your entire pool of dynamic IP addresses in the maintenance field, so that it doesn't matter which one is selected. The problem is that then, anyone who is also dynamically assigned an IP address from the same pool will see your site instead of the maintenance page. shokinro
I have a way to do this, maybe it is not the best one. My solution is to use the same maintenance mode setting, but I will use the IP address field as Maintenance Access Token. Then at maintenance mode, you access your front store with the Maintenance Access Token as URL parameter. For example, at preference setting page, set IP Address as "My.Securet.Code", then access your site with URL parameter as http://yoursiteurl/index.php?MAT=My.Securet.CodeSee here for detail.http://alvinjiang.blogspot.com/2010/10/prestashop-tips-how-to-allow-mutiple.html
