Where is the VAT Number?

using PS 1.5.4, where can I see and change the customers VAT Number in the BO?

 

Google didn't help me much....

customers > Addresses - then click on edit button for address you want to edit, there is a field "VAT number"

Than what am I doing wrong, cause I have it as seen in the attached image.

if address isn't "Company" address you will not see the "VAT_number" field

And how do I turn an existing address into a Company address?

 

 

Otherwise I have to fiddle with line 29 in /<b.o.>/themes/default/template/controllers/addresses/helpers/form/form.tpl:
