Dolke
Hi, You all know that in the preferences for search module you have to put the the number of how many characters word can have at least to be searchable. Right now I have set that value to 3. So when a visitor comes he can search for example "spare part" or just "part" but he/she cannot search "sp pt" or just "pt" I wanted to ask you guys for a suggestion and what would you recommend. Also if I put smaller value for example 2 will this be harder for a server to handle, in other words is changing this value influence the actual response of the server? Is there some industry standard for this value? Thank you all in advance.Dean Edited September 20, 2013 by Dolke (see edit history)
Alex Simonchik BelVG
Hi Dolke, it is depends on your server. If you are using ajax search and set minimal search lenght very small, server load is increase. Regards
Dolke
Hi Alexander, I do use Ajax search. Server is good but still I would like to no overload it. What do you suggest, what would be the perfect length to use? As I said, currently I have set it to 3. thanks
NemoPS
There is no industry standard, it depends on your needs. For example, if your products have part of the name consisting of 2 chatacters, you should put 2
Dolke
Hi Nemo1, Thanks for clearing that up. I thought so myself but never hurt to ask. Alexander said it will increase server load. Would be this like a small increase or great one. I know it is hard to say as it is depending on the sever but still...
