cindy.yu
Hi Does anyone has experience on bulk product import through File2Cart or store manager? What is their advantage and disadvantages? I have around 500~1000 products to import. I want every field of products showed in PrestaShop's back office can be handled by module, especially SEO (metal title, description, etc). File2Cart: http://www.file2cart.com Store Manager: http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools-prestashop-modules/2937-store-manager-for-prestashop.html
fullycoolly
Hi, I used Store Manager for some time and so far I think it has the best product import. Here are my suggestion how to make it easier if you'll use it: 0. Backup your database before the import :-) 1. Use "cached import" if you use direct MySQL connection - it will be faster. (if bridge connection - doesn't matter) 2. If you have problems with mapping columns to database fields - you can export one or two products into a file and see how it looks. You won't need to rename columns or add required columns or anything, but it will show you their file structure. 3. A very pleasant feature - you don't need to have all required columns to create product during the import. 4. It should be free for 30 days. You can import the products and not spend a penny ;-) Can't say much about File2Cart, never used it. But it seems nice, too. In any case - personally, I'd first run import on a developement store and check which tool works better. And make backups :-)
