Prestashop Automation?

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can help to tell me if it's possible to fully automate Prestashop 1.5.

What I mean by that is that a consignment agency that holds stock will get the info from the shop and then when the order is taken care of they send info back to the shop to change the order status and thus trigger the customer emails, such tracking number, sent, etc.

 

Normally the agency does this via ftp, but they say they can write a Perl/Java app that communicates via the FTP server if needed.

 

Would it be possible to do something like this with Prestashop and what is involved?

Sorry, when I say get the info from the shop I mean they get it automatically sent to their system/ftp and they then return the needed info to our shop via ftp or another means if there is a better/easier alternative.
