Patric
Which PS version ?Try with the default theme ? Which result ?
Soundz
Hi Patric, Thanks for the fast reply, I'm using PS version 1.2.2, the categories were showing at first but then my boss deleted all the demo categories and added some new ones which will only now display with dynamic mode switched off. (Hope that makes sense) Funny thing is I have installed the same PS version locally onto my laptop, added new categories to the existing demo ones and every thing works fine. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer.Regards,Morne.
Patric
If these is a customized theme, try to check the theme compatibility option in the BO Preferences.
gwu777
Hi, I have the exact same problem, I have deleted all the demo categories and have installed my own one, I haven't changed anything on the theme and now it only work when "The dynamic tree from the category block" is not activated...I am guessing that the script in blockcategories.tpl does hide the categories as planned, but the javascript doesn't work as expected. // <![CDATA[ // we hide the tree only if JavaScript is activated $('div#categories_block_left ul.dhtml').hide(); // ]]> Of course, I don't know much about the code - totally new here - and this could be completely unrelated... Soundz
Hi Patric,Sorry about that, I am using the default PS theme. Thanks for the reply.
Patric
Another possible thing : check the display level in the Categories block configuration (BO > Modules). Sometimes it is at "0" and no category is displayed.
gwu777
Right now mine is on 3 and no categories are displayed.Just in case it has anything to do with it. It seems I noticed the problem just after removing all the blocs from the right column - I am trying to have a two column shop.
Soundz
I have tried changing that, it still wont work. I have also uninstalled and removed the module and uploaded and installed it again, that also wont work.
gwu777
Alright, here is what I have found, with this thread...While I was tinkering with the BO, I probably checked that my theme should not be compatible with 1.1 theme in preference thinking that as I was only using the latest package information it should be fine... I have now re-anabled the compatibility option, and I now have the categories back when the dynamic tree is activated in the categorie block option...I have only used and downloaded the latest version available of PS, I tend to agree with Bork, when he says that the theme shipped with 1.2 is not fully compatible if we have to run it in compatibility mode... I am just happy that it works though.

gwu777
I guess we were both tinkering the BO at the same time!!! Glad it worked for both of us and probably other who are installing a new version of prestashop and decide to remove the compatibility option!!! stig
I had the same problem (v1.2.4) - I just noticed suddenly the category block went blank :-S (when set to dynamic mode). It was all working fine before this. I also lost the dynamic effects in the cart at the same time. I worked for hours uploading clean files, just like everyone else tried.I got the dynamic categories back after I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Quick Search module! And I'm still set with v1.1 theme compatibility mode OFF.Try it, does it work for you? %-P

Programmers Direct
my categories will not collapse or hide, I am running 1.4.9 and all the categories and their contents shop up instead of collapsing until I select it. If anyone can help this has happened multiple times and I cannot find what has happened. Any help would be appreciated.
