SteveM
After a number of attempts and using this forum I've finally installed Prestashop on my ixwebhosting account.Like many people on this forum I could never get past step 3 on the installation setup, but it did create all the tables and I can view the default site.My problem appears to be that because I could not complete the setup I'm having trouble logging in to the back office.I renamed the admin account per the wiki instructions and deleted the install directory, but now I get the following error: Notice: Undefined index: DOCUMENT_ROOT in D:\xxx\yyyy\zzz.com\prestashop\admin1234\login.php on line 23 There is 1 error 1. Path is not the same between your browser and you server : - Server: prestashop/admin1234/login.php - Browser: D:\xxx\yyy\zzz.com\prestashop\admin1234\login.php Obviously there is a step I'm missing.I also attempted to login using the username and password I created when I made the database, and I received the following error: There are 2 errors 1. Path is not the same between your browser and you server : - Server: prestashop/admin1234/login.php - Browser: D:\xxx\yyy\zzz.com\prestashop\admin1234\login.php 2. employee does not exist, or bad password Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.TIA
Patric
If you didn't complete the install process, there no reason to go further. Even if you can login to the BO, you'll meet problems.Try to pass the 3rd step successfully. What happens at this step ?
SteveM
At Step 3 I verify the database and receive an email. Then I click on next and see a the progress bar at the top right...and nothing happens.
Patric
This may be your MySQL server that is not UTF-8 compatible.Try to use the Firebug console to check if an error occurs when clicking Next.
SteveM
I assume I'll have to uninstall prestashop and start again, but in the meantime here are the specs: localhost * Server version: 5.0.51-log * Protocol version: 10 * Server: Localhost via UNIX socket * User: unitedb_steve@localhost * MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8) * MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci phpMyAdmin - 2.11.8.1 * MySQL client version: 4.1.15 * Used PHP extensions: mysql BTW I don't think it makes any difference but I am running on windows OS. SteveM
This is the response I get in Firefox when trying to install from scratch after completing step 3.[Tue Sep 08 12:49:18 2009] [warn-phpd] mmap cache can't open D:\xxx\yyy\zzz.com\prestashop\config\settings.inc.php (pid 5328 th 5536)
SteveM
Called ixwebhosting support and asked if they could change the permissions on the folder per the prestashop install instructions. They stated they would change the permissions but it would open up my site to all kinds of attacks, but they'd do it if I sent in a trouble ticket. This does not sound like a good solution to me!So at this point I'm not sure what to do. Searching through the forums it appear there are many users having the same problem. surely the boffins at Prestashop can figure this out :-)Looking for guidance. SteveM
I spent time on the phone with ixwebhosting support on Friday and they recongnize there is a security issue. I sent them a trace from my install which highlighted some issures.Hopefully I'll have a resolution Monday, and as soon as I have a successful install I'll post the results here.Cheers,Steve
golojap
Hi, I got my prestashop to be successfully installed with ixwebhosting. My problem was caused by the fact that I had a "Windows" hosting plan. I purchased an additional "Linux" hosting plan and it worked just fine right out of the box. Hope this helps. June
Employee does not exist or bad password. It comes up every time I try to logon. I have deleted the person who was taking over my web site and replaced his name with mine so that I am the only one as employee now. Hostmonster has changed my username and password ( then I in turn changed to a new one) so that he can not get in through them. They have been a great help to me but say that the problem is in Prestashop. If I could be given a new username and password to let me in so that I can check out my web site I would be happy.
