images in CSV import still not working!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have tried all other solutions I could find, but I am still getting the

"Product n°XXX: the picture cannot be saved:" - error message

when using the CSV import.

I have tried

1) emptying tables "ps_image" en "ps_image_lang"

2) removing funny characters from image filename

3) removing the domainname from the image path

No luck whatsoever....any suggestion is welcome!

Hi,

The URL you are using in the CSV, if you copy and past it into a browser can you see the image? if you can see the image then there is something wrong with the formatting of the CSV, if you cant see it then there a couple of other possibilities.

See if you can see it in your browser using the URL you have in the CSV first.

Thanks again for the quick reply :) Yes opening the url in my web browser does load the image. I have tried all the different combinations of ways to imput the image url and none have worked. I attempted the full url for example http://www.onestoppipeshop.com/images/b/423/perc2__65518.jpg

another post said the full url was the issue and instead to leave the domain name out (as posted below), which also didnt work.

/b/423/perc2__65518.jpg

Btw now the above link will not work simply because i erased the folder/images i had uploaded when i started to manually add in the images.

but that URL looks as though you are trying to link to the resized thumbnail which is automaticly generated my PS, is that the folder you have uploaded all of your images?

where are your images uploaded?

http://www.onestoppipeshop.com/images/

?

When you used FTP what is the full URL to that folder?

The link was to the full size image. My images were uploaded to http://www.onestoppipeshop.com/images/    when you ftp in it initally shows your domain name (i.e. onestoppipeshop.com) then the images folder along side admin, cache, classes, config, controllers etc. Thanks again for your time

I got 404 not found error when looking at that URL, but if as you say folder is 777 I should be able to see it.

for me 1.5.4.1, 1.5.5.0 and 1.5.6.0 all work perfect, you need to use the absolute URL to the original folder in the CSV in order for it to work,

for example

http://www.mysite.com/images/image1.jpg

And multiple images references separated by comma.

So if you go to this URL can you see the image?

http://www.onestoppipeshop.com/images/perc2__65518.jpg

I get a 404 for that one.

Yes I erased that folder last night when i started to manually add in images and in order to save room on my hosting plan. After uploading all files i chnaged permissions to 777, then used the full url (the one posted above was copied/pasted from the csv file I usd) I also only attempted to upload one image per product. After uploading all images and with permsissions changed (before erasing all the imnages i uploaded) I was able to load all image susing the full url path and had a friend confirm the images loaded on their pc.

Well if you could see it fine in the browser I can only think that it is a CSV issue, create the folder again, upload 1 image, and remove any underscores form the image name.

Test the URL in your browser and upload the CSV again.

If that does not work maybe try to contact the host. I originally had an issue with my host that all root folders could not be accessed ( image folder included ) even with 777 permissions, and they created a different URL outside of root folder for me.

But if you can access the /images folder in your browser that probably isn't the issue.

When you import the CSV did you receive any errors regarding the images? and it may be worth turning error reporting on to get a better idea as well.
