I had my store transferred through webhosting up to prestashop. I was originally it yahoo small business. I am having trouble with editing my new prestashop and actually cannot do any form of editing at all with it. Right now it looks identical and works identically to my yahoo small business site. I would like to place a  new template in my store with the same files. HELP!!! Do I need to install an editor.

Hi usbead,

Welcome to the forum!

A few questions:

- Are you familiar with the Prestashop environment already? (if not, start here)

- What Prestashop version do you use?

- did you contact the people who did your transfer about this already?

- You say the site is still working, although it 'looks and works the same' as the old small business Yahoo.  Are you sure they finished the transfer already? (I would expect at least SOME changes...)

- Can you look up products, order things, register as a client etc?

- Can you reach and get into your Back office?

- can you login to your host and reach the prestashop files?

- Can you paste the URL to your shop here, so we can have a look?

I am somewhat familiar with prestashop, however I will take a look at the link you have provided. I have downloaded the latest version of prestashop via webhostinghub, and I have contacted the people who have done the transfer and have recieved no real help or answers. The website is fully functional, as far as being able to order and register ect, however I cannot get into the back office, and cannot even reach the prestashop login screen. It's driving me nutts, because all I need to do is change the template around. I can log into webhosting hub and reach the install, but there is no way for me to edit the actual prestashop.

Thank you for your help

Hi, your website is not running PrestaShop from that link you provided. it's still running your previous Ecommerce platform.

It is running under webhostinghub, under prestashop. I need to be able to put a new template on it or create a new prestashop and be able to transfer all of the files into it. Can someone please direct me as to how to go about this since I cannot get into the back office

I don't understand what you mean. http://usbeadwarehouse.com/ that website is not running under PrestaShop.

Hi usbead,

If you have a look at the source code of your main page, you can see that usbeadwarehouse.com is just a wrapped version of sweetcreek.com. It just redirects all traffic. The real website is (still??) sweetcreek.com. usbeadwarehouse.com is just a 'front', to have an alternative domain name, next to sweetcreek.com. it's the same website!

If you look at the code of sweetcreek.com, it is still a yahoo webshop, running at yahoo. So not only the theme/template is the 'old one' as you said, but it's really the old shop, with all functionality etc from the yahoo shop. there has not been any transfer to Prestashop done (yet?).

So either

1) they are not finished doing the transfer yet, and are for now just still using the old yahoo shop, but with the domain name usbeadwarehouse as Alternative domain name,

or

2) they tricked you, if they say they are finished transferring to prestashop already.

Let them answer the simple question, how to get into administration (back office) of their 'prestashop' version. I bet they have problems answering this....

good luck,

pascal

OK, one more:

If you order something in usbeadwarehouse.com, and then switch to sweetcreek.com and order another product, you will see that both products are shown in the order/check out list. So it is really one and the same shop.

As you can see, the checkout etc. is still done at smallbusiness.yahoo.com...

usBead,

as you can see in post #8, (first picture) all that domain usbeadwarehouse.com does is run sweetcreek, com in a frame, and changes the name to usbeadwarehouse. that's all. There is NO separate usbearwarehouse shop. it's just sweetcreek running there under a different name.

Please take the time to look carefully to the first pic in #8 and really realise what it says. It takes as source sweetcreek.com, gives it a name usbeadwarehouse.com and runs this in a frame. That's what it does. Not more, not less. There's NO additional code for a separate usbeadwarehouse shop.

Sorry, I can't make it better...

P.S. You talk about a different webhost. Who is this, and what did they say they would do for you exactly? I assure you, all that we can see, there is 0% Prestashop available.

Really check with them what they did exactly, how far they are, if prestashop is running already.

As said before, if they say it runs under prestashop, just ask them how to get into the back office (maybe tell them you want to add more products or so). I am sure they have no answer to this question. Try this!

All the best,

pascal
